Job Summary
As an Applied AI Engineer on the Cortex Product Enablement team, you will revolutionize operations by integrating advanced AI and LLM capabilities into the team's toolchain. You will design, build, and maintain custom tools, automation, and platform infrastructure to enhance content creation, automate operational tasks, and support the global Cortex sales motion. This role blends software development, AI integration, and platform engineering to solve real-world problems in a cutting-edge cybersecurity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate LLM capabilities into operational tools — natural language queries against tenant data, intelligent summarization of complex operational states, and conversational interfaces for team members.
- Build AI-assisted content analysis tools: automated demo flow validation, content freshness scoring, and cross-product capability mapping.
- Develop prompt engineering frameworks and AI workflows that augment the team's content creation and review processes.
Tooling & Automation
- Build and maintain custom tools, scripts, and integrations that connect the team's toolchain.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks: tenant cleanup, user provisioning/deprovisioning, workshop scheduling workflows, and content distribution.
- Design and implement API abstraction layers for Cortex tenant APIs, enabling programmatic management of demo environments.
Platform Engineering
- Own the technical architecture of all team-built tools and systems — from design through deployment and maintenance.
- Establish development standards, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure patterns for the team's growing tool ecosystem.
- Build with extensibility in mind: new tenants, new products, and new team members should be easy to onboard.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Enablement team to understand operational pain points and translate them into technical solutions.
- Interface with R&D and Product teams to stay current on Cortex API capabilities and upcoming platform changes.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of software development experience- in Python (preferred) or TypeScript/Node.js, with production-quality code.
- Hands-on experience with LLM/AI integration— building applications that use OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or similar APIs. Not just prompting — actual application development with AI as a core component.
- Strong API development skills — designing and consuming REST APIs, handling authentication, pagination, rate limiting, and error handling.
- Experience building internal tools or developer platforms— you've built things that other people on your team use daily.
- Clean code practices— proper project structure, separation of concerns, error handling, logging, testing, and documentation.
- Comfortable with cloud infrastructure — deploying and maintaining applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Self-directed and outcome-oriented— you can take a vague problem and turn it into a working solution without detailed specifications.
Preferred
- Cybersecurity domain knowledge— familiarity with SOC operations, SIEM/XDR/EDR concepts, threat detection, or security operations workflows.
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks products** — Cortex XSIAM, XDR, Cloud, or any PANW platform.
- Full-stack development capabilities — ability to build web UIs (React, Streamlit, or similar) in addition to backend services.
- Experience with AI agent frameworks — LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar orchestration tools for building multi-step AI workflows.
- Familiarity with demo or sales engineering environments** — understanding the unique challenges of maintaining demo infrastructure vs. production systems.
- Experience with workflow automation tools — Slack bots, GitHub Actions, or similar integration platforms.
