Your Career

At Palo Alto Networks, we're looking for an experienced engineering leader to build and scale world-class cloud-native security products. As a Senior Product Owner, you will be the vital bridge connecting Product Management, R&D Managers, and our high-caliber engineering teams. This is not a passive backlog-grooming role; it is a position for a deeply analytical, systems-minded product leader. You will sit at the intersection of business strategy and complex technical execution, converting abstract business requirements into precise, scalable engineering deliveries. You will partner with our Software Architects and Senior Staff Engineers, understanding their system integrations while holding Product Management accountable for defining airtight, edge-case-proof product requirements.

Your Impact

• The R&D and Product Bridge: Serve as the primary liaison between Product Management, R&D Managers, and engineering teams, aligning business timelines with realistic technical capacity.

• Requirement Articulation: Translate high-level business goals, market needs, and user feedback into deeply detailed, technical user stories and functional specifications that engineers can immediately execute.

• Upstream Challenging & Edge-Case Discovery: Act as the first line of defense against vague product requirements. Proactively challenge Product Management to think through hidden edge cases, data dependencies, and system impacts before pushing features to R&D.

• Systems & Integration Fluency: Maintain a strong conceptual grasp of our distributed systems, microservices architecture, and complex product integrations to ensure feature requests are technically viable.

• Stakeholder Management & Commitment: Act as an exceptional communicator who can evangelize the product roadmap, rally cross-functional teams around requirements, and secure ironclad commitments from all dependencies.

• Quality Review & Feedback Loop: Review engineering deliverables against acceptance criteria, provide constructive, high-quality feedback to the development teams, and champion the end-user experience.

Qualifications

Your Experience

• 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Technical Product Manager within complex, enterprise-level software environments.

• Systems-Thinking Mindset: Strong ability to comprehend complex software architectures, APIs, and multi-product system integrations (experience working alongside cloud/microservices engineering teams is highly preferred).

• Master of the Edge Case: A proven track record of dissecting product requirements to find missing logical paths, data edge cases, and architectural impacts.

• Agile Excellence: Deep expertise in managing and prioritizing complex backlogs, defining strict acceptance criteria, and driving Agile/Scrum ceremonies.

• Communication & Leadership

• Flawless Communication & Articulation: Exceptional ability to speak "business" to stakeholders and "architecture" to engineers, flawlessly translating the why into the what and how.

• Influencing & Negotiation: Proven capability to drive alignment across conflicting priorities, push back on unrealistic business demands, and get external teams to commit to cross-project dependencies.

• Constructive Reviewer: Experience reviewing engineering outputs and providing clear, actionable, and encouraging feedback that drives both quality and team morale.

• Preferred & Bonus Qualifications

• Prior background as a software engineer, business analyst, or systems analyst is a massive advantage.

• Experience utilizing modern AI productivity tools or spec-driven development frameworks to accelerate the creation of PRDs (Product Requirement Documents) and user stories
