Job Summary
Join the Palo Alto Networks SASE group as a Principal SQA Engineer, where you will validate core networking and security features for our cutting-edge SD-WAN solutions. You will be an integral part of a world-class, multi-functional engineering team working on groundbreaking technologies. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex problems and make a significant impact in the fast-evolving SASE space.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve important customer problems and deliver impactful results within a small, fast-paced team.
- Contribute to all phases of end-to-end product and solution validation.
- Collaborate with PM, TME, and support teams to understand and address customer use cases.
- Work with development and QA groups to ensure the highest product quality.
- Suggest and implement strategic improvements to the overall QA process.
- Partner with DevOps and Technical Support to troubleshoot and resolve complex customer issues.
- Lead technical discussions, mentor junior engineers, and support customer deployments.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in software quality assurance for networking products.
- Expertise with standard TCP/IP protocols (ARP, IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP) and IPSec VPNs.
- Expertise in testing Layer 2/3 networking and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
- Proficiency in automation and programming using Python and REST APIs.
- Experience with traffic generators (e.g., Ixia, Spirent) and protocol analyzers (e.g., Wireshark).
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in system, scale, performance, and interoperability testing of SD-WAN solutions.
- Familiarity with networking features like Multicast, IPv6, DNS, NAT, and DHCP.
- Ability to own test strategy, architecture, and execution plans for enterprise-scale solutions.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi, QEMU/KVM, or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with using AI tools in an automation or testing context.
- Experience designing and implementing test frameworks for system-level validation.
