Job Summary
As 5G adoption accelerates globally and security becomes a critical differentiator for telco operators, Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Principal Technical Marketing Engineer to serve as the technical face of our telco security strategy. You will be THE subject matter expert (SME) for 5G security at Palo Alto Networks—a technical visionary who thrives at the intersection of deep 5G/telco architecture and strategic market positioning. This role uniquely positions you to shape how a leading enterprise security vendor establishes dominance in the rapidly evolving telecommunications security market. As the bridge between Engineering, Product Management, Sales, and the field, you will translate complex 5G security concepts—network slicing, zero trust architecture, and edge protection—into compelling narratives, hands-on demos, and scalable enablement programs. You'll influence the product roadmap by bringing real-world insights from the telco ecosystem while ensuring our sales teams and customers understand both the 'how' and the 'why' behind our solutions. Beyond content creation and technical enablement, you will be an industry thought leader: positioning Palo Alto Networks as the telco security leader through speaking engagements at major events (Mobile World Congress, 5G Summit), authoring whitepapers that shape industry discourse, and working with cutting-edge technologies like 5G Standalone, private 5G, network slicing, and cloud-native telco architectures. This is a fast-paced environment where you'll shape the narrative as the market evolves—building demo environments that showcase our security efficacy, conducting technical deep-dives for customers and Sales Engineers, and collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, and channel partners to drive market impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-impact whitepapers on 5G/LTE Security and private 4G/5G networks, complete with architecture diagrams illustrating integration with 5G Core and edge infrastructure.
- Document technical concepts including best practices for deployments to ensure our products are well understood and utilized to the greatest extent possible.
- Create video demos, technical articles for industry publications, and maintain FAQs covering common telco security questions and use cases.
- Develop and maintain premier demo environments showcasing 5G security efficacy (e.g., private 5G, network slicing).
- Create automated deployment scripts and reusable demo assets for field teams.
- Design telecom-specific threat simulations, including SS7, Diameter, and 5G signaling attacks.
- Lead telco Executive Briefings (EBCs), positioning Palo Alto Networks solutions against threats and competition.
- Conduct technical workshops and 'Train the Trainer' programs for Sales Engineers (SEs) and channel partners on 5G security, architecture, and deployment.
- Deliver lunch-and-learns and regional enablement sessions on emerging 5G security topics to ensure field readiness in key markets.
- Influence the product roadmap by providing real-world telco deployment feedback to Engineering and Product Management, focusing on Tier-1 operator requirements and 5G security needs.
- Serve as the technical liaison between the field and engineering, aligning product development with market demands and telco go-to-market strategy.
- Establish Palo Alto Networks as the telco security leader through thought leadership, speaking at major events (MWC, 5G Summit), and publishing content on telco security challenges.
- Maintain deep expertise in 5G/4G, security threats, telco compliance, regulatory requirements, and the competitive landscape.
- Present at customer advisory boards, executive forums, and deliver external webinars on 5G security.
- Track and communicate emerging trends, AI/ML in telco security, and quantum computing threats.
