We are seeking a dynamic Senior Marketing Manager, Public Sector to join our U.S. Public Sector Marketing team. This visible, high-impact role is ideal for a strategic marketer who is deeply passionate about advancing public sector missions and brings a nuanced understanding of B2G procurement, policy, and technology trends. We are recruiting the next generation of regional marketing leadership—true marketing business owners who are enthusiastic about AI, highly strategic, self-directed, and not afraid to challenge convention.
In this role, you will drive full-funnel marketing outcomes across our customer segments, taking ultimate accountability for regional pipeline, new logo acquisition, and revenue acceleration across Public Sector. This key role plays a critical part in positioning Palo Alto Networks as the trusted cybersecurity partner of choice across the Public Sector.
Your Impact
1. Strategic Planning, Partner Ownership & Sales Alignment
- Develop Public Sector Marketing Plans: Design and execute comprehensive quarterly and annual integrated marketing plans with clear strategic focus areas, tactical initiatives, and outcomes aligned to Public Sector business objectives.
- Partner Marketing Ownership: Partner closely with capture teams and strategic Ecosystems partners to build integrated co-marketing plans that influence deals, expand regional reach, and deepen customer and partner engagement.
- Sales Leadership Alignment: Act as a strategic marketing partner to Sales and GTM leadership. Maintain tight operational rhythms to continuously inspect joint business plans, identify pipeline gaps, and deploy synchronized marketing actions.
- Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs): Prepare, analyze, and present data-backed marketing performance metrics during sales QBRs, providing visibility into pipeline contributions, key wins, and localized market insights. Monitor budgets to maximize ROI.
2. Full-Journey Demand Generation & Pipeline Acceleration
- Drive Pipeline Generation: Own regional Public Sector pipeline targets and work closely with GTM teams to deliver measurable pipeline and bookings outcomes.
- Multi-Channel Portfolio Orchestration: Drive performance outcomes across a diverse mix of digital, virtual, and in-person channels. Leverage cross-functional execution partners while holding ultimate accountability for full-funnel results.
- Funnel Optimization & Deal Velocity: Map and analyze the end-to-end lead flow to isolate friction points, implementing data-driven custom nurture sequences and timely interventions to accelerate deal velocity.
- BDR & Inside Sales Partnership: Drive close operational synergy and enablement with the Business Development Representative (BDR) organization to ensure closed-loop lead follow-up and maximized pipeline conversion.
3. Account-Based Marketing (ABM) & Personalization
- Public Sector ABM Strategy & Audience Targeting: Partner closely with the NAM Campaign Center of Excellence (COE) to operationalize our ABM framework for B2G. Rather than executing the tactical campaigns yourself, you will drive the strategy by defining high-value agency targets, building audience segmentation profiles, and interpreting buying intent, propensity, and procurement pipeline data to guide campaign direction.
- Mission-Aligned Content Strategy: Define the messaging architecture and content strategy for the Public Sector, ensuring all campaigns speak directly to agency missions, government directives, and vertical-specific priorities. Partner with the COE and content teams to guide the creation and upkeep of localized, public sector-focused digital assets and resources, while leaving the final technical execution and distribution to execution partners.
- Data-Driven Agency Prioritization & Insights: Identify high-value accounts and prioritize target lists. Provide the NAM Campaign COE with critical strategic inputs—such as upcoming procurement timelines and fiscal year funding cycles—to align campaign execution with agency buying surges and deliver accurate pipeline forecasting.
4. AI-First Mindset
- AI-First B2G Workflow: Cultivate an "AI-first" habit by actively leveraging company-approved, provisioned AI tools for brainstorming, government policy research, and first-pass drafting. Bring an "AI-curious" mindset to everyday tasks, finding creative ways to use standalone, secure company tools to work smarter and accelerate output.
- Mission-Driven Content Verticalization: Leverage provisioned AI tools to accelerate content development, quickly adapting broad corporate messaging into highly verticalized, mission-specific content. Use AI as an accelerator to tailor first-draft copy, messaging, and campaign assets to the distinct vocabularies, pain points, and regulatory landscapes of different Public Sector segments.
- Proactive Process Improvement: Continually identify opportunities to apply our current suite of provisioned tools to streamline repetitive, manual B2G tasks. This includes drafting localized agency outreach, synthesizing lengthy government tech directives, or summarizing regional event briefs, proving that manual effort can be reduced even within a standalone tool environment.
5. Brand Equity, CxO Engagement & Marquee Event Leadership
- CxO Relationship Development: Partner closely with sales leaders to design and deliver high-touch executive programs such as intimate roundtables, VIP experiences, and advisory councils that build trusted-advisor relationships with regional public sector CxOs, CIOs, and CISOs.
- Shared Ownership of Public Sector Ignite: Partner closely with the Corporate Events team to co-drive the strategy and execution of Public Sector Ignite (our flagship segment event). Lead the collaborative development of the agenda and content strategy, ensuring session tracks, keynote themes, and localized content align tightly with the latest public sector priorities, policy trends, and tech directives.
- Corporate & Third-Party Event Integration: Champion the Public Sector voice across major third-party industry conferences and Palo Alto Networks-owned events. Ensure the Public Sector segment, customer base, and partner ecosystem are prominently featured in global event planning, promotional campaigns, and corporate communications.
- Sales Enablement & Campaign Alignment: Act as the strategic bridge between Corporate Events and the Field Sales organization. Build and execute thoughtful sales enablement initiatives surrounding marquee events, equipping sales teams with the target campaigns, follow-up plays, and localized activations needed to drive executive-level registration and accelerate pipeline.
- Strategic Impact over Vanity Metrics: Turn high-value speaking slots, customer panels, and localized event initiatives into high-impact platforms. Move far past baseline attendance metrics to secure true strategic value, driving executive-level engagement, accelerating deal velocity, and positioning Palo Alto Networks as the premier thought leader in the space.
Your Experience
- B2G Background: 8+ years of marketing experience, with a deep, practical understanding of the B2G customer journey, procurement cycles, and public sector agency missions.
- Comprehensive Public Sector Scope: Proven capability to drive comprehensive marketing strategies across diverse public sector segments (such as Federal, State, Local, Education, and Public Sector Ecosystems).
- Agile Decision-Making & Comfort with Ambiguity: Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, operate with urgency at pace, and make sound, high-impact strategic decisions with minimal, incomplete, or rapidly evolving information.
- Partner Marketing Ecosystems: Demonstrated success building and executing integrated co-marketing plans with strategic ecosystem partners, systems integrators, and channel networks to influence deals.
- Modern Marketing Execution: Proven success designing and executing creative, disruptive, strategic, and data-driven campaigns (including ABM frameworks) tailored to public sector audiences.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Excellent communicator and team player who thrives in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment; comfortable engaging with sales leadership, cross-functional GTM teams, and Corporate teams to align strategy and message.
- High-Agency Mindset & Friction Breakthrough: Proven ability to maintain momentum and drive outcomes when faced with complex organizational roadblocks, bureaucratic friction, or shifting priorities; someone who proactively identifies alternative pathways, and maintains a strong bias for action to push past barriers to success.
- AI Aptitude: Strong operational fluency or active curiosity toward leveraging approved AI tools to drive everyday workflow efficiencies and process improvements.
