Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Android Software Engineer who possesses in-depth knowledge of the Android ecosystem, a passion for security-first development, and a strong product commitment. In this role, you will be a key player in designing, developing, and securing new features for our primary Android mobile products.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Drive the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of our core Android solutions, ensuring high performance, quality, and responsiveness.
- End-to-End Ownership: Oversee the development lifecycle from prototyping and implementation to testing, delivery, and ongoing maintenance.
- Security & Best Practices: Define and evangelize development best practices with a strict focus on code robustness, mobile security, scalability, and performance.
- Collaboration & Alignment: Work closely with Product Management, Sales, UX designers, and backend engineering teams to align on product roadmaps and backend API design.
- Customer & Field Support: Interface with Support and field teams to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex customer escalations in large-scale enterprise deployments.
- Mentorship: Lead brainstorming and design sessions, providing ongoing technical direction and code reviews for teammates across multiple global sites.
- Innovation: Stay ahead of the curve regarding evolving mobile technologies, Android OS updates, and relevant open-source libraries.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with 3+ years dedicated to the Android platform and at least 2 years in a technical leadership or lead role.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java, alongside a deep understanding of core Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- Deep understanding of modern Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, MVP) and UI patterns (including Material Design).
- Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming concepts.
- Experience with Android testing frameworks (Espresso, JUnit) and a solid understanding of Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven knowledge of code signing and distributing applications through the Google Play Store, as well as managing dependencies via Maven/Gradle.
- Solid understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SCIM, and token-based authentication.
- Familiarity with user directory concepts like Active Directory, user groups, authentication/authorization mechanisms, and security policies.
- Understanding of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), PKI, certificate security, encryption, and secure data storage on mobile devices.
- Basic understanding or experience with cloud platforms, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS).
- Understanding of no-schema (NoSQL) databases and local mobile data persistence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of iOS development (Swift, Objective-C, XCTest) is a strong plus to help collaborate on cross-platform mobile initiatives.
- Working experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) or Mobile Application Management (MAM) policies.
- Experience or interest in full-stack web development, Windows programming, or kernel-mode development.
- Exposure to global security compliance and privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOX, PII, and PHI data handling).
- Experience working in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment across geographically distributed teams.
