Joining Palo Alto Networks in Japan

Simply put, my role is to propose the best security solutions to our customers. I understand their needs and challenges, then advance the proposal by conducting product demonstrations and addressing technical questions. The goal is not just to sell a product but to ensure that the customer fully understands and leverages the value of the product to drive their business forward while protecting their information assets. I have primarily built my career as a network and security engineer. In my previous company, I gained experience in planning, designing, building, and maintaining backbone and cloud networks for data centers and cloud infrastructure nationwide. Later, I transitioned to a pre-sales engineer role, focusing on security products for virtualized networks and environments.

I was considering a career change when I had the opportunity to meet with a recruiter. At that point, I didn’t know much about Palo Alto Networks, but the recruiter took the time to explain the company’s vision, the necessary skills, and the future direction in detail, which helped me smoothly progress through the interview process. While the interview process involved more steps than other companies, I believe it was a thorough and multifaceted approach to assess candidates and avoid any mismatches.

On my first day, I was able to set up my PC and access almost all internal systems. Before joining, I was concerned about the multiple layers of security software on my PC slowing it down or making systems hard to use, but I was surprised by how easy and user-friendly the systems were. I had expected a trade-off between security and convenience, but I was pleased to find that the company had managed to provide both effectively. The company presentation focused less on past achievements and more on the forward-thinking approach and the drive to continuously challenge new areas, reinforcing Palo Alto Networks' commitment to being a leader in the cybersecurity industry. The company's vision and direction were clearly communicated and seem to be well understood across the entire organization. Additionally, the environment for learning and training is excellent, enabling me to systematically acquire the necessary product knowledge and security expertise.

Life at Palo Alto Networks over the Past Six Months

The managers and team members were very warm and welcoming, allowing me to settle in quickly. The team's collaborative and supportive atmosphere is strong, and regular internal networking events provide an opportunity for open communication and idea exchange. As a result, I have been able to communicate smoothly with colleagues. The work-life balance is also excellent, as the company ensures a clear separation between work and personal time. After work, it’s common to go out casually for drinks with colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere. While staying up to date with new technology can be challenging, I can easily reach out to colleagues both domestically and internationally via chat for assistance, allowing me to move forward with my work regardless of my tenure at the company.

A Message to Future Candidates

Cybersecurity requires specialized technical skills, but the demand for security expertise is growing rapidly across all industries, as it’s no longer possible to run a business without considering security. Palo Alto Networks' strength lies in its ability to solve customers' challenges with cutting-edge technology. Working alongside talented engineers globally to protect businesses from cyber threats is an incredibly rewarding role. 私のこれまでのキャリア

私は主にネットワーク・セキュリティエンジニアとしてキャリアを積んできました。以前の職場では、全国規模のデータセンターやクラウド基盤のネットワーク企画・設計・構築・運用保守を手掛け、ネットワーク仮想化技術やセキュリティ製品のプリセールスエンジニアとしても経験を積んでいます。こうした経験から、テクノロジーの力で企業の課題解決に貢献することにやりがいを感じてきました。

スムーズなオンボーディング

入社初日に、PCのセットアップが完了し、すぐに社内システムを利用することができました。セキュリティ企業ゆえにシステムの煩雑さを心配していましたが、実際は非常に使いやすく、セキュリティと利便性のバランスが見事に取られていることに驚きました。さらに、会社のビジョンや進むべき方向性が明確に示され、全社員がその方向性を共有していることを強く実感しました。

丁寧な面接プロセス

面接では多くのステップがありましたが、候補者をしっかり見極めるためのプロセスだと感じました。事前に会社のビジョンや求められるスキルを詳しく説明していただいていたおかげで、不安なく進めることができました。

充実した入社後のサポート

入社から6ヶ月、チームメンバーのサポートや温かいコミュニケーションのおかげで、スムーズに業務を進めることができています。フラットな環境で意見交換がしやすく、オンオフの切り替えも明確です。仕事後にリラックスして同僚と飲みに行ける雰囲気も魅力的です。
