Job Summary

Senior-level consulting role responsible for leading cybersecurity incident response and breach investigations for Unit 42 clients. Serves as both a strategic advisor and hands-on technical leader, driving outcomes across complex security incidents in diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end breach response engagements, providing strategic direction and hands-on DFIR execution
  • Deliver expert consulting across incident response, digital forensics, and cyber risk scenarios
  • Guide clients through complex incidents with tailored, high-impact remediation strategies
  • Conduct and oversee forensic investigations (disk and memory acquisition/analysis)
  • Utilize industry tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, SleuthKit, Volatility) for investigations
  • Analyze attacker techniques, TTPs, and persistence mechanisms
  • Manage multiple client engagements concurrently in high-pressure environments
  • Lead technical discussions and maintain strong client relationships
  • Identify and support business growth opportunities (cross-sell / upsell)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of DFIR consulting experience (incident response, breach investigations)
  • Proven experience leading technical IR teams during active incidents
  • Deep expertise in forensic methodologies (chain of custody, disk/memory analysis)
  • Hands-on experience with DFIR tools (EnCase, FTK, SleuthKit, Volatility or equivalents)
  • Strong OS-level expertise (Windows, Linux, and/or macOS)
  • Bachelor’s degree + 12 years, Master’s + 8 years, or PhD + 5 years (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recognized industry presence (speaking engagements, publications, thought leadership)
  • Strong client management experience, including budget ownership
  • Experience analyzing advanced threats and novel malware
  • Comfortable with up to ~20% travel

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed below. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.

$183,000.00 - $252,000.00/yr
