Job Summary

Your Career

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Full Stack Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable, high-impact software systems. This role requires deep technical expertise across frontend and backend technologies, strong leadership in driving projects from concept to production (0 → 1), and a passion for building platforms that empower engineering teams, particularly Internal Developer Portals (IDPs). As a Principal Engineer, you will set technical direction, mentor engineers, collaborate closely with product and leadership teams, and deliver robust solutions that scale with the business.

Your Impact

  • Lead end-to-end architecture, design, and development of full stack applications

  • Drive greenfield (0 → 1) initiatives from ideation to production

  • Architect scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js, Express, and Python/Go

  • Build high-quality frontend applications using React and Material UI (experience with Backstage is a plus)

  • Define engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns

  • Mentor and guide engineers across teams through technical leadership and code reviews

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions

  • Ensure system performance, reliability, security, and maintainability

  • Lead incident response, debugging, and system optimization efforts

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field

  • 8+ years of experience in full stack or software engineering roles with principal-level impact

  • Strong background in system design and software architecture

  • Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality products end-to-end

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Technical Skills

Frontend

  • Strong expertise in React

  • Experience with Material UI or similar component libraries

  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript

  • Deep understanding of frontend architecture, state management, and performance optimization

Backend

  • Extensive experience with Node.js and Express

  • Strong programming experience in Python and/or Go

  • Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices

  • Strong knowledge of authentication, authorization, and security best practices

Platform & Infrastructure

  • Experience building or working with Internal Developer Portals (IDPs) (major plus)

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes preferred)

  • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices

Data & Systems

  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases

  • Strong system design skills for scalability, reliability, and performance

  • Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing)

Leadership & Experience

  • Proven experience leading complex engineering projects, including 0 → 1 initiatives

  • Ability to own technical vision and influence engineering strategy across teams

  • Strong mentorship, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Experience driving architectural decisions at scale

  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing platform tooling or developer experience (DX) solutions

  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures

  • Open-source contributions or technical thought leadership

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed below. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.

$147,000.00 - $237,500.00/yr
