Staff DevOps Engineer (Cortex Research Threat&Detection)
Our Mission
At Palo Alto Networks® everything starts and ends with our mission:
Being the cybersecurity partner of choice, protecting our digital way of life.
Our vision is a world where each day is safer and more secure than the one before. We are a company built on the foundation of challenging and disrupting the way things are done, and we’re looking for innovators who are as committed to shaping the future of cybersecurity as we are.
Who We Are
We believe collaboration thrives in person. That’s why most of our teams work from the office full time, with flexibility when it’s needed. This model supports real-time problem-solving, stronger relationships, and the kind of precision that drives great outcomes.
Your Career
In this role, you will be the dedicated DevOps engineer responsible for engineering the deployment and integration of technologies from various specialized research teams into our central infrastructure. You will take full technical ownership of the production lifecycle - architecting backend wrappers, mastering containerization strategies, and orchestrating the deployment of these tools at scale. You will combine backend logic with robust infrastructure engineering to ensure that the diverse tools built by our research and collaborating teams function reliably and efficiently within our resources.
Your Impact
Integration Strategy & Standards: Define the technical standards for exposing research tools by translating customer needs into clear specifications, ensuring that tool interfaces meet both operational requirements and infrastructure best practices.
Containerization: Build and maintain Docker images for a wide variety of tools, ensuring they are deployable and efficient.
Deployment & Orchestration: Manage the end-to-end orchestration of services into our production clusters, utilizing modern deployment methodologies to ensure high availability and scalability.
Technical Implementation: Work directly with research engineers, identify dependencies, and refactor applications for cloud-native deployment.
Troubleshooting: Debug complex issues that arise when migrating code from local research environments to production infrastructure.
Your Experience
3-5 years of experience in a DevOps or Automation/Infrastructure Engineering role.
Python Proficiency: Ability to write clean code. Experience with web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) is an advantage.
Containerization: Deep, proven experience with Docker, including multi-stage builds, image optimization, and understanding container runtimes.
CI/CD & Automation: Proven experience with Jenkins pipelines and writing Groovy scripts for automation.
Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and managing cluster resources.
OS Fundamentals: Deep understanding of Linux administration. Knowledge of Windows internals is a significant advantage.
Cloud & CI/CD: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/AZURE) is an advantage.
The Team
We are an innovative team dedicated to developing a system that enables users to execute automated attack scenarios and provision diverse environments, including VMs, clusters, and containers. Our mission is to tackle complex technical challenges, deliver scalable and reliable solutions, and continuously push the boundaries of automation. We foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment where creativity and technical excellence thrive.
Our Commitment
We’re problem solvers that take risks and challenge cybersecurity’s status quo. It’s simple: we can’t accomplish our mission without diverse teams innovating, together.
