Monica Bermeo
Recruiting Business Partner, Recruiter, JAPAC
I completed my degree majoring in Business Administration from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. I moved to Singapore in 2007 and landed the opportunity to build a career in Talent Consulting. For a decade I worked with global specialist boutique recruitment firms where I focused on senior leadership talent partnering with some top-notch global multinationals in the Consumer, Legal, Consulting, and Technology sectors. I joined Palo Alto Networks as a Recruiting Business Partner in Singapore to look after the G&A teams in JAPAC and the APAC Inside Sales organization.
On a personal note - I'm blessed to be a wife and a mother of 2 girls. Am a wellness, environment, and company culture advocate and super glad to be part of a company that recognizes and empowers this. To date, I helped drive the launch of the Green Team and Wellness Program in the JAPAC region.
What advice would you give to a candidate preparing for an interview?
Prepare! We are the leading and fastest-growing cybersecurity business and are after the creme de la creme. When you get the chance to interview with us, give yourself justice and truly prepare for the interviews. Get to know our company, what we do, the people you will meet with, review the JD. Most of all, "know thyself" - your strengths and areas of development. Do not underestimate the use of reading your own resume, picking out some highlights and lowlights in your career to share as real-life examples when needed.
How can someone be a more competitive candidate?
Complementing demonstrable successful track record in their field, I believe embodying our values is foundational. What resonates most to me is integrity. Having passion and grit to sustain top-quality performance in an ever-evolving business at the same time a good degree of humility for when we need to stop and reflect on how can we improve. On a final point, it is a given that one should believe in Palo Alto Networks and in what we do - securing today's digital way of life.
