Regional Sales Manager Spotlight: Selin on Impact and Culture in UAE Cybersecurity

A Career Built on Purpose and Responsibility

My career has always been driven by technology that genuinely matters. Early on, I found myself in the high stakes world of cybersecurity, a field where trust, protection, and responsibility are the core principles. It was fast-paced, demanding, and a constant learning environment. I quickly realized this wasn't just a technical discipline; it was a mission that demanded awareness, accountability, and purpose.

Over the years, I've witnessed cybersecurity evolve dramatically. Threats have grown more sophisticated, complexity has increased, and tools and approaches have shifted rapidly. Yet, one constant has grounded me: the profound responsibility to protect people, enable trust, and always do the right thing.

Growth Through Resilience

Unexpectedly, this work became deeply formative. It instilled in me essential qualities like resilience, confidence, and collaboration. The challenging moments and periods of doubt weren't setbacks; they were opportunities that ultimately made me better.

Joining the Cortex Team at Palo Alto Networks

This path eventually led me to Palo Alto Networks, specifically to the Cortex team. I joined because I strongly believed in the company's mission, but it was the authentic culture that truly impressed me. From day one, I experienced a genuine sense of trust and a team that celebrates success while tackling challenges together. There's an expectation of continuous learning, and questions are actively encouraged, never seen as a weakness.

The "Aha" Moment: Values Over Hierarchy

I had a defining "aha" moment here during a cross-functional discussion. Ideas were openly shared, questioned, and built upon, completely independent of role or title. Leadership genuinely listened, asked insightful questions, and invited perspectives from every person in the room. Even with years of experience, I recognized this level of openness and respect as unique. It made it clear that contribution is valued over hierarchy, fostering an environment where we are trusted to think, not just execute.

This feeling was reinforced by the Cortex team, where the culture is built on a foundation of trust, curiosity, and shared purpose. Colleagues support one another, leaders invite open dialogue, and growth is proactively encouraged.

Representation and Empowerment for Women in Tech

As a woman in cybersecurity, this environment matters deeply. It has empowered me to own my voice, step forward, and help create the necessary space for others to do the same. Representation is more than symbolic—it actively shapes what people believe is possible for their own careers.

Securing the Digital Future in the UAE

Today, my greatest motivator is the knowledge that our work has a tangible, real-world impact. We protect people, strengthen organizations, and secure the vital digital infrastructure we all rely on. This is what keeps me excited for the future here at Palo Alto Networks.
