Meet Bob, Senior Principal Security Researcher, Foundational AI Research at Palo Alto Networks
It’s been an exciting year for Bob J.! After nine years at Palo Alto Networks being primarily focused on WildFire Malware and Countermeasures, he recently made an internal move to Senior Principal Security Researcher in AI/LLM (Cortex). Today, Bob is focused on getting hands-on with generative AI systems, collaborating with world-class experts in this area, and investigating interesting problems. Here’s what Bob shares about his internal mobility experience:
My new role has been an extremely welcome change of pace with fresh new challenges. I have that excitement back where I legitimately look forward to Monday mornings to settle in and continue to push towards what's possible. In terms of career trajectory this is also exactly what I was looking for in terms of not only enjoying what I do but getting down in the weeds with generative AI. With that experience under my belt I feel like I have leveled up in terms of the skill set and tool chains I can use to build novel solutions to the difficult and nuanced problems we encounter with malware RE, attack detection, and threat attribution.
I’m a big fan of how easy and streamlined the internal mobility process was. I would love to continue doing what I'm doing while also bringing solutions from an initial idea to a customer facing production system!
