Learn more about Joe’s experience and how he is driving our security mission forward.

Please tell us how your experiences led to your career in cybersecurity.

While my journey into cybersecurity wasn't traditional, it’s a path shared by many. Unsure of my direction after high school, I decided to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduating, I joined the United States Air Force as a civilian engineer. There, I worked alongside incredible teams on projects heavily focused on contemporary Information Technology standards. I used that time to absorb everything I could about networking, storage, compute, and end-user environments. Gaining that deep infrastructural knowledge provided the perfect foundation for me to transition into the cybersecurity side of system design.

What is your favorite part of working at Palo Alto Networks?

Even though I’m still relatively new here, my favorite part of Palo Alto Networks has been how incredibly welcoming everyone is. From day one, the culture felt instantly familiar and supportive, which allowed me to hit the ground running with confidence.

You support our Solutions Engineering team—please share why you are passionate about working with your specific team.

It all comes down to energy. Taking the leap into management meant leading this team through a period of transition, and serving as their guiding hand has been an amazing experience. Growth isn't always easy, but working with such talented individuals and helping them elevate their careers makes it entirely worth it. Every team member brings a distinct background and perspective to the table—harnessing that collective talent is what makes supporting this Solutions Engineering team so exciting.

Share an example of how you feel you make a strong impact with respect to our mission: being the cybersecurity partner of choice, protecting our digital way of life.

Protecting our digital way of life is a dynamic, non-stop mission—especially now that AI is shifting the threat landscape every second. I believe that while strong foundational security is essential, continuous evolution is what makes us the partner of choice. I drive this mission directly through our Performance Elevation framework. By actively guiding my team to expand their skills, embrace continuous learning, and exceed their development goals, I ensure our engineering talent stays ahead of adversarial shifts. Empowering my team to constantly level up is how I make a tangible impact on our collective security mission.

What are you most excited about for the future?

I’m most excited about the speed of innovation at Palo Alto Networks. Our transparency and the quality of our continuous integrations—via both internal R&D and acquisitions—are impressive. As we move forward, securing AI will drive massive improvements across our portfolio, and it’s thrilling to be part of the organization best equipped to meet this demand.
